Sorry for the interruption of scheduled services, had an interesting end of last year and a lot of work this year which tapered off meaning....... time to bring back the olde blog!

Draw from terrible films

So, you haven't been at life drawing at a while and you need to keep the old skills up?
Here is what i do, i use netflix and draw-but there is a catch-if you are interested at all in it, if it has production values or an interesting plot-Just Say NO!!
Pick something you have no interest in at all-turn that sound right down. You don't want any errant dialogue catching your attention.
Then draw, draw draw.
And thats how i came to watch the scorpion king 3

Star Trek in a nutshell

So i have boiled star trek down to the captain sitting in his chair and some shirtless fella (usually the captain) trying to cave someone's skull in with a foam rock.

Pet Peeves

So, in designing for animation you have to simplify, otherwise you are gonna to drive animators into a murderous rage. But its always peeved me when an arm or other limb is removed there are only two ways of presenting this.

First is the Ham method-the arm or leg is solid pork or you can go the Hollow person theory, once a leg or arm is removed it is found to be totally hollow, filled only with blood and a full bone sticking out.

Its can be a tricky problem since most cartoons don't really want you to go too bloody or gory.

Gotta be another solution right?
